
Getting Your KHS and Sidel Blow Molders Back in Sync
If you’ve ever dealt with inconsistent preform temperatures, you know the headache. It slows everything down. To get it right, you need lamps that fit the OEM footprint perfectly. No gaps, no guesswork. We build our replacement lamps to slide right into everything from those old-school KHS SBO models to the newer Matrix series, and the entire Sidel lineup. The “Drop-In” Promise Here’s the thing: our lamps are designed as direct replacements. We don’t do “close enough.” We mirror the exact electrical load and physical size of the original units. Why does that matter? Because if the voltage or wattage is off in a Matrix or SBO machine, you’re either tripping breakers or ending up with under-heated PET. We also obsess over the measurements. If a lamp is off by even two millimeters, it puts stress on the quartz tube the moment you install it. That’s a shortcut to a premature burnout, and nobody has time for that. The Gear Inside We use high-purity quartz glass because these ovens take a beating with constant thermal cycling. These lamps use short-wave infrared to punch through the PET preform fast. Plus, we add specific coatings that push the energy forward into the plastic instead of letting it leak back into the oven housing. We pair these with the standard industrial connectors you’re used to—usually R7s or Sk15—so they wire up exactly like the factory parts. Simple. A Quick Reality Check These lamps put out a ton of heat to keep up with fast cycle times. But there’s a catch. All that intensity puts a lot of wear and tear on your reflectors. If your reflectors are pitted or oxidized, it doesn’t matter how brand-new your lamp is—you still won’t hit your target temperature. Do yourself a favor: every time you swap a lamp, give your reflectors a good look. Make sure they’re clean so that infrared energy actually hits the plastic where it’s supposed to.
