
Stop Throwing Away Your Infrared Heaters
Most bathroom heaters are basically disposable. They’re built as sealed boxes, which means when a heating element finally gives up the ghost after a few years, the whole thing is trash. You rip it out of the wall and send it straight to the landfill. That feels wrong to us. So, we did things differently.
Why we went modular
We decided to split the heater into pieces. We kept the chassis separate from the tubes and the wiring. Here’s why that matters: when a tube burns out, you don’t have to tear your bathroom apart or mess with the main circuit. The elements just sit in slots with simple clips. A technician can pop out the dead tube and slide in a new one in about ten minutes. It’s quick. Easy. No drama. We also used high-temp terminals. We didn’t want the contacts pitting or welding themselves shut over time. If the wiring is done right, the only thing that will ever wear out is the quartz tube itself.
The trade-off
Now, there is a catch. To make this work, we need a bit more room inside the housing. The unit is slightly larger than those integrated ones. But in our book, a few extra inches of space is a fair price to pay for a machine you can actually fix. To make sure that extra space doesn’t waste any heat, we used reinforced reflectors. They keep the warmth hitting the floor where it belongs, instead of letting it leak into the chassis.
The long game
Your wallet will thank you. Replacing a single tube is a lot cheaper than buying a whole new assembly. One tip: check your contact tension every couple of years. If a connection gets loose, it creates hotspots that can melt the plastic. Keep those terminals tight, and this system will outlast almost anything else on the market. It turns a sudden, annoying system failure into just another quick bit of routine maintenance.
