
Why we stopped making “permanent” mirror heaters
Let’s be honest: bathrooms are brutal on electronics. You’ve got steam everywhere, constant temperature swings, and a level of humidity that just eats away at heating elements over time. Usually, when a mirror heater dies, it’s a nightmare. You’re stuck staring at a foggy mirror, knowing that to fix it, you’ll probably have to rip open a wall or rewire half the bathroom just to replace one burnt-out tube. It’s a mess. We decided there had to be a better way. So, we moved to a modular setup. Instead of building the heater as one solid, permanent chunk, we separated the infrared element from the main frame. Think of it like a cartridge. If a tube gives out after five years, you don’t need a soldering iron or a construction crew. You just pull the old module out and slide a new one in. It takes about ten minutes. Simple. Now, about the heat. We use shortwave infrared emitters because they don’t waste time warming up the air—they go straight for the glass. That’s why the fog disappears so quickly. But here’s the catch: putting that much heat in a tight space means the housing has to breathe. If the airflow gets blocked, the element is going to burn out faster. To keep things safe, we used heavy-duty connectors. No cheap push-fits that spark or loosen over time. Just a tight, secure fit that stays put. The reality is that nothing lasts forever. Quartz glass can crack if it’s bumped, and filaments eventually wear thin. It’s just physics. Instead of pretending we’ve built a “forever” product, we focused on making it incredibly easy to fix. For the people installing these or managing a building, that’s the real win. You aren’t worrying about the total cost of a replacement—you’re just swapping a part and getting back to your day.
